  • Couple

    Proximity to the city.

Their needs to be propper bedding ie doona and perhaps for the private rooms a tv would not go astray.

I attended the Rugby Union Super Final and so had easy and close access to the stadium. There was a great cafe/bar downstairs to relax in before I went out and I was also able to park my car downstairs in a secure carpark.

The room I was in was on the 3rd floor close by the lifts and general common area which unfortunately is quite noisy day and night. Luckily I was very tired and was able to fall asleep quite easily, however was awoken around 5.30am.

  • Older travelers

Proximity to city, car parking and friendly staff.

The hotel was very noisy until at least 1 am.

Staff were so friendly and helpful.

Sharing with others, but can't complain as that was part of the deal!

no house keeping for 5 nights of staying!!!! Rooms at the first floor were in the underground....dark and bad feeling as in a cage.....

I had a double room and it was good value for money. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. Need to sleep with ear plugs because the room is sort of facing the train tracks. Overall yha is a nice place.

No free Internet and no part charges - have to pay for one hour or full day.

how close it was to transit centre and suncorp stadium

more pillows on bed they got uncomfortable at times

  • Family with children

    clean and easy atmosphere

noisy , being so close to rail lines. and thin walls can hear all noises.advertised free popcorn but this was not made available.

  • Group of friends

It was convenient, we were there to watch the Bledisloe, I would happily stay there again. It was spot on as far as location goes and the food in the bar/restaurant was not bad either. Nice atmosphere all round.

Versatile choice of rooms to suit different budgets. Good range of facilities and helpful staff. A wide mix of travelers of different age groups give the place a buzzing atmosphere without being overly boisterous. Privacy was respected. It was nice to have a cafe/ restaurant onsite and the accommodation was close to the Barracks, a small shopping complex which was handy.

The restaurant/ cafe food varied widely depending on which Chef was on. Breakfast could be delicious one day with exactly the same choice, awful the next. The room I had was a 4 share female dorm with ensuite. I thought it would have been better, if every time the beds were made for new arrivals, cleaning staff could also vacume the dorm and particularly bathroom floors as these get quite dirty and were never cleaned in the 4 nights I stayed there.

  • Couple

Good kitchen & laundry facilities. Friendly helpful staff. Good roofside area & pool to relax next to.

Room was like a prison cell. It was clean, but had no character, was dark & grey with an uncomfortable bed.

  • Older travelers

During the night about 1 to 2 am there were people running up and down the corridor banging doors shouting and yelling. They sounded as if they were running from room to room chasing each other. We couldn't sleep. Can you have a patrol that goes round the hostel checking for rowdy guests or some sort of monitoring system perhaps cctv. We have stayed at this hostel previously and think it is great, also the restaurant is just super, the food is good and reasonably priced and the owner is very obliging giving great service.

  • Group of friends

The rooms were really nice and very clean. The rooftop pool is gorgeous and the bistro is really nice as well. Its also pretty convenient to the city - 10 mins walk!

The whole facility was very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I ate at the cafe so didn't use the kitchen facilities, but heard good reports from other travellers. The rooms were located far away from the bar, so no noise heard whiletryin to sleep.

There was no fan in the room, only the airconditioner, overnight it got very cool and someone else in the room turned the aircon off, this resulted on the rest of us waking up sweating. I think a fan would have been useful. The cafe was a little pricey if you were to eat there for every meal.

24 hour reception desk attendance; it made checking out at 3.00am to catch my flight very simple. Sunscreen to use at reception (free of charge) was a great idea and I really appreciated the reminder to be sun smart. The luggage room was brilliant as it meant I got to dump my pack in the morning, even though I wasn't checking in until 2.00pm.

It's not really a dislike, but I thought it might be helpful if the YHA sold toiletries for people who suddenly discover they forgot to pack a toothbrush or soap (as I did). Also, all of the doors to the dorms look really similar. I thought it might be an idea (in addition to the room number on each) if each room had a unique poster or picture or colour or something on the doors to help guests (particularly after a good night out and a couple of drinks later...) to distinguish which room they were headed towards.
